Description:
High in the mountains north of Chiang Rai, an animistic hill tribe adheres to ancient traditions, including the belief that a widow, the "Mida," must instruct men in sexual matters before marriage to ensure fertility – a position considered a great honor. The arrival of pimps from Bangkok seeking to recruit local girls for brothels disrupts this way of life. They enlist two locals as assistants, offering goods like tape recorders, watches, and clothing as payment. However, the assistants soon discover the promised batteries are unavailable, electricity is nonexistent, and they have been deceived. This betrayal fuels resentment towards outsiders among the community. The arrival of another Bangkok man, initially mistaken for a pimp, reveals him to be a volunteer teacher. What will become of him, the two locals, and the girls who chose not to leave?
