Description:

"The Committee," starring Paul Jones of Manfred Mann fame, offers a distinctive look at Britain in the 1960s. Following a successful West End run in 1968, this controversial film has rarely been shown. Stunning black and white cinematography by Ian Wilson brings to life Max Steuer's "chilling fable," a story that avoids simple answers. It uses a bizarre murder to examine the conflict between government control and personal liberty. Unlike films that portray the state as simply ignorant or oppressive, "The Committee" explores the inherent flaws within individuals, drawing on the ideas of R.D. Laing to present a psychologically complex protagonist facing an all-too-human system.
