Description:
"The Jewish Cardinal" tells the remarkable true story of Jean-Marie Lustiger, whose family immigrated from Poland as Jews. Despite converting to Catholicism and becoming a priest at a young age, Lustiger held onto his Jewish heritage. He quickly advanced in the Church and was made Archbishop of Paris by Pope John Paul II, giving him a prominent position as someone who bridged both Catholic and Jewish worlds – a position that garnered him support and opposition from both communities. When Carmelite nuns seek to build a convent within Auschwitz, Lustiger becomes a mediator between them and the Jewish community there, potentially forcing him to finally choose between his two identities.
