Rosa, a new teacher at a school in Valencia's outskirts, finds herself connecting with a troubled student and James, the school's disillusioned director. One student, Amira, a Sudanese girl distinct from the others, immediately captures Rosa’s attention. As Rosa works to build a relationship with Amira, she discovers the family plans a dangerous ablation. Rosa then fights to prevent it.
