Description:
Director Joseph Anthony adapts James Lee's off-Broadway play into this tense story of ambition. Anthony Franciosa stars as Sam, a young actor willing to do anything to achieve Broadway stardom, even sacrificing his family for menial work. Dean Martin plays Maury, an aspiring director also striving for success. When Maury gets a major opportunity, Sam seeks a role in his show, but is rejected. Sam then seduces and marries Maury's girlfriend (Shirley MacLaine). Despite this, Maury wants his girlfriend back, and Sam agrees to a divorce if Maury casts him as the star of his next production. Maury breaks his promise, and before Sam can seek revenge, he is drafted into the army.
