A Case of Deadly Force (1986)

This is a true story about the 1975 cover-up of a shooting by two white members of the Boston Tactical Unit. During a stakeout of a suspected getaway car from an armed robbery, the officers shot and killed a Black man who entered the vehicle. The officers stated they acted in self-defense, claiming the man had a gun. The initial police investigation supported the officers' version of events. However, the man’s widow, convinced her husband wouldn't carry a weapon, vowed to prove his innocence. She enlisted the help of a former police officer turned lawyer to fight for him. Working with his four sons, the lawyer and his team challenge the police force in a case that ultimately became a significant legal event. By John Sacksteder.
