Description:
Weakened by poor health and awaiting the police to remove the occupying immigrants, Pantanella Luigi reflects on his past. He recalls working in Belgian mines alongside fellow Italian immigrants, their placement in the impoverished suburb of Giano. There, squalid living conditions fueled conflict among the needy. Luigi remembers his work with Caritas, establishing shelters for the homeless and providing aid to AIDS patients, and their ongoing fight for racial and religious acceptance. He also remembers the lack of support from political parties and even the Church's leadership.
