It follows a nation recovering from the 1994 genocide as it builds a film industry to express its pain and offer entertainment and economic opportunity. Named for Rwanda’s hills, Hillywood is a mobile film festival showcasing films made by, about, and for Rwandans. The festival brings public outdoor screenings to different towns, using inflatable screens to share Rwandan stories.
