Description:
Following the Egyptian revolution, many prisoners held by national security forces were released after enduring abuse. These prisoners were often detained without charges, and their families were kept from them. Amaal, a mother struggling with poverty, hopes to create a celebratory meal to welcome her son home and heal from a painful past that has affected many young Egyptians. Her younger son, Shawky, a 13-year-old, attempts to help by taking what he cannot obtain. While the powerful have profited from Egypt, the majority struggle for basic sustenance. Will the revolution restore the lost hope of its youth?
