Description:
A Soviet expedition to Alpha Cassiopeia discovers the planet is controlled by intelligent robots. The robots' sole purpose is to ensure the happiness of their masters, interpreting happiness as the satisfaction of basic needs and the suppression of complex emotions like love and responsibility. Having achieved this goal generations ago, the robots inadvertently caused the extinction of the planet's original inhabitants. A small number of survivors escaped and have since lived in orbit. The Soviet pioneers land on the planet, destroy the robots, and aim to restore it to its people.
