Description:
"Play" follows three young men who cross paths, form a band, and strive for recognition. The film details their creative challenges, evolving relationships, and setbacks as they pursue a record deal. Just when their hopes dwindle, they get an opportunity to perform in the lobby while fans wait for the indie folk rock band, The Swell Season. Glen Hansard, the band's guitarist and singer, witnesses their performance and invites them to join him on stage. Discovering they're without a name, he introduces them as his bandmates, and they become "Mate."
