Newsreel footage from July 16, 1948, shows film star Erich von Stroheim arriving in Vienna with the cast of Ernst Neubach's French film "Le signal rouge" (1949). He is traveling on the Arlberg Express and is joined by producer and director Ernst Neubach, along with French actresses Denise Vernac and Claude Chenard, and newcomer Franck Villard. Born in Vienna, von Stroheim had previously moved to Hollywood before World War I, where he achieved international fame. This marks his first film role in his native Austria.
