Description:
This comedy-drama follows a widowed Latvian father on a journey to find his pen pal of thirty years, a Dutch woman he hasn't heard from in decades. He brings along his traumatized, mute eight-year-old son, whom he secretly takes from a Riga hospital. Together, they travel to Holland, where the father, Yuris, hopes to reconnect with Marie, whom he remembers as strikingly beautiful. Their journey is filled with humorous mishaps, largely due to their lack of Dutch language skills. They eventually reach Marie's home, but their hopes are dashed when they discover the idealistic young woman of Yuris’ memories has become a middle-aged, cynical person.
