Description:
In late World War II Tokyo, Toshiko lived with her family as Japan faced increasing defeat and widespread shortages. On March 10th, 1945, a bombing claimed the lives of her mother and two younger sisters. Amidst the wreckage, she found a fire-damaged toy rabbit, a stark reminder of the war's terror. Later, during evacuation to the suburbs, her father was killed by American forces. Alone and devastated, Toshiko struggles with despair, questioning the point of survival. But fueled by grief and a sense of responsibility for her lost family, she resolves to endure: "I must survive for my family... Otherwise, who will be visiting their grave?" This is the story of a young girl's resilience, a story that deserves to be remembered.
