Description:
Following a breakdown, Rita returns to her childhood village in 1961. While recovering, she reflects on the past two years: her relationship with Manfred, a chemist ten years her senior. She recalls his excitement about a new chemical process that ultimately faced official disapproval. Shortly before the construction of the Berlin Wall, Manfred fled to West Berlin, hoping Rita would join him.
