Description:
This film follows a Latin American dictator from the early 1900s as he transitions from a charismatic leader to a brutal tyrant. He is eventually overthrown and spends his final years forgotten in Paris. Initially, his country's wealth and agricultural exports bring him confidence and a surprisingly gentle approach to ruling, including frequent vacations with his daughter in Paris. However, after World War I brings economic hardship and multiple failed attempts on his life, his rule hardens into cruelty.
