Description:
This is the second film in a three-part autobiographical series by the director. The first, originally titled "Zamri Oumi Voskresni" and later "Zari, Umri, Vokresni" ("Freeze-Die-Come to Life"), received awards and was set after World War II. It followed young Valerka and his friend Galiya as they tried to move beyond mere survival. In this film, Valerka is grappling with Galiya's death and returning to school to live with his mother, who is a prostitute. When a student at school is gang-raped, the headmaster unfairly blames Valerka, expelling him from school. After a fight with his mother about the expulsion, Valerka leaves home and encounters a society that is shockingly bleak, degraded, and hopeless.
