In 2008, nine-year-old RANDYPETERS1 from Chicago uploaded a series of hand-drawn animated videos to YouTube about Octocat, a red cat with eight legs searching for his parents. The videos were made with simple MS Paint animation and narrated by a child's voice. The fifth and final episode revealed a surprise: around the 20-second mark, the rough animation transformed into detailed 3D with an orchestral score. It was revealed that David O'Reilly was the true creator of Octocat and the Randy Peters persona. In an interview, O'Reilly explained he aimed to experiment with the YouTube audience and MS Paint, and that the Octocat story originated from reading the Bible backwards.
