Description:
Inspired by Soseki Natsume's 1908 novel, Poppy is a complex tale of longing and ambition. Beautiful and accomplished Fujio is engaged to Munechika, an ambitious young diplomat, and has promised him a valuable family watch as a symbol of their commitment. However, she develops feelings for Ono, a tutor who is drawn to her beauty and status. Ono is already betrothed to Sayoko, the daughter of his teacher, Professor Inoue. Determined to be with Ono, Fujio is prepared to sacrifice everything. But Ono is persuaded to proceed with his marriage to Sayoko. Fujio then gives the watch to Munechika, who understands her true feelings and throws it into the ocean.
