Description:
Secrets of Scotland Yard is Republic's adaptation of the story from E. Phillips Oppenheim's novel, The Great Impersonation. Following World War I, the German high command strategically plants a spy within the British Admiralty to prepare for future conflict. Edgar Barrier plays both the German spy and his British twin brother. After one twin dies, the other assumes his identity, leading Scotland Yard Inspector Sir Christopher Belt (C. Aubrey Smith) to question which brother is truly innocent and which is guilty. While closely inspired by Oppenheim's work, Secrets of Scotland Yard is based on a novel by Denison Clift, who also wrote the screenplay.
