It’s All in the Family (1975)

Danny Lee is Hsu Chih-yuan, the youngest son of his father Hsu Hui-tang (Cheng Miu), a stern patriarch. Chih-yuan’s life becomes difficult when he reveals to his father that his girlfriend Susan (Ai Ti) is pregnant. His father pressures him to break up with her, leading Chih-yuan to agree to study abroad. His eldest brother, Chih-wen (Ling Yun), offers to raise money for the trip but loses the family fortune in the stock market. This sets off a series of misfortunes for the family, culminating in disappointment for Chih-yuan. The story explores the conflict between tradition and youthful desires, leaving the family financially and emotionally diminished.
