Description:
A young woman, her dog, and a man struggling with independence form unexpected connections. Curtis Peterson, a vibrant man in his late twenties, and his wife Marie are hoping to start a family when a construction accident leaves Curtis paralyzed. At the same time, another family adopts an 8-week-old puppy named Banner for a year-long training program with the goal of assisting people with disabilities. The family's young Emily quickly bonds with Banner, but her joy is shadowed by Curtis and Marie's difficult situation. As Marie takes on a waitress job to help financially, Curtis finds himself isolated and consumed by self-pity.
