Description:
In Vienna, Philo investigates whether Archer Coe is selling aircraft designs to foreign nations. He obtains plans bearing Coe's signature but is apprehended by the police before he can leave. Deported back to America, Philo intends to confront Coe, only to discover him dead in his locked bedroom, a gun in his hand. Though initially appearing a suicide, Vance suspects foul play. The coroner's report reveals Coe was shot, struck with a blunt object, and stabbed, making suicide improbable. Vance now investigates the possibility of leaked government secrets and the murder of Coe, a story reimagined from "The Kennel Murder Case" with aircraft designs replacing porcelain and dog shows.
