Description:

This true drama tells the love story of baseball legend Lou Gehrig and his wife Eleanor. Their romance unfolds from Gehrig's successful years with the New York Yankees alongside Babe Ruth, through his difficult fight with a debilitating illness. The shy Gehrig meets the outgoing Eleanor as he's already a popular player. Their relationship begins cautiously, developing through letters during his travels. Gehrig’s overprotective mother creates challenges for their marriage and later for their happiness, but their love endures. At the height of his career, Gehrig is diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The Gehrigs' courage and dignity during this ordeal make for a moving and unforgettable film.
