Description:
The film follows Edgar Allan Poe from his childhood, exploring his family history with Irish immigrant roots and his father's life as a poet. The story charts Poe's life after his mother's death, including his adoption by John Allan, his expulsion from the University of Virginia due to debt, and his marriage to Virginia Clemm – a union that leads to estrangement from Allan. Struggling financially in New York, Poe's life is further devastated by Virginia's death, plunging him into deep sorrow and battling alcohol-fueled hallucinations. Ultimately, consumed by grief and delusion involving visions of his deceased wife and other spectral figures, Poe's life culminates in his own death in 1849.
