Description:
Teacher Chan Chi-hong, his wife Lee Yuk-mei, and their five children struggle to make ends meet on his low salary. After being dismissed from two schools, their family faces hardship. The children begin begging to cover their mother's medical expenses. Chan's attempt to write a novel for income is unsuccessful, and he develops tuberculosis. Adding to their troubles, the youngest daughter dies, and they are pressured by loan sharks. Considering drastic measures, Chan is moved to change his mind after witnessing the dedication of other parents. He redoubles his efforts as a father, determined to overcome their challenges. His novel is eventually published and becomes a success, offering the family hope for a better future.
