Description:
Laura Heiberg, a young woman about to marry Torsten Vinge, unexpectedly refuses to go through with the ceremony. She runs from the church and accepts a ride from Jonas Møller, who is traveling north along the coast. He drops her off at the 42 km mark in the forest, where she follows a telephone wire to a secluded house. The house appears empty, but the door is unlocked, so she enters. Receiving no answer, she sends a telegram to her former love, Herbert Thorsen, requesting him to bring clothes from home and informing him of her decision not to marry. While waiting, she discovers a book by Allan Krogh titled "What Do You Know About Yourself," which she takes out to read on the terrace.
