Description:
The aging and impoverished Giacomo Casanova, after years of wandering Europe, desires to return to Venice but hesitates due to his fugitive status upon leaving. While seeking a pardon, he encounters a young woman named Marcelina, who repeatedly and dramatically rejects his affections. Undeterred, Casanova persists, learning of Marcelina's lover, Lorenzo's, crippling gambling debts. Lorenzo agrees to let Casanova take his place at a secret rendezvous with Marcelina in exchange for the money. Under cover of night, Casanova seduces her. Afterward, Lorenzo, feeling dishonored, demands revenge. Casanova kills him in a duel and then finally travels home to Venice.
