Description:

Pierre, a young lawyer, is deeply in debt because of his mistress, Florence, and her extravagant lifestyle. His debts now threaten his family's firm, leading them to ask him to leave the country. To avoid scandal, Pierre enlists in the Foreign Legion. In Morocco, near the desert, he and his fellow Legionnaires visit a bar-restaurant-brothel owned by the enigmatic Mr. Clement. Clement lives with Ms. Blanche, a fortune teller who enjoys card readings, but he also takes an interest in his own girls. Pierre is still consumed by thoughts of Florence, but he meets Irma, one of Clement's girls, who bears a striking resemblance to her – except for her hair color. Irma has suffered an accident and lost some of her recent memories. Pierre begins to believe she is Florence, unable to recall her past. Encouraged by Ms. Blanche, Irma agrees to pretend to be Florence as she develops feelings for Pierre.
