Description:
Ben Caldwell’s *Medea* is a film created by combining live-action footage with quickly edited still images of Africans and African Americans, all assembled on an animation stand and edited solely in camera. These images appear as glimpses into the past, representing the history an unborn child will inherit. The film is an experimental exploration of art history, Black imagery, identity, and heritage, inspired by Amiri Baraka’s poem “Part of the Doctrine.”
