This film explores whether any man can be a great lover, focusing on Finster Fahrquart, a man surprisingly unqualified to be a sex symbol. Finster is completely inept at seduction, and the movie follows his awkward attempts at intimacy with various women: at a strip club, on a computer date, with a rural woman, a shy woman in the park, a married woman shopping, massage parlor workers, and in an elaborate orgy. Each encounter unfolds humorously, reminiscent of classic slapstick comedy, and Finster remains silent throughout.
