Description:
This is the story of the Brooklyn Dodgers, from Jackie Robinson breaking baseball’s color barrier to their relocation to Los Angeles a dozen years later. The Dodgers represented the city's diverse working class, a contrast to the wealthier New York Yankees. They repeatedly came close to winning the World Series before finally achieving victory in 1955. However, by then, Ebbets Field was deteriorating, attendance was declining, and fans were moving to the suburbs. A planned new stadium was blocked by Robert Moses. When Los Angeles offered O'Malley a compelling opportunity, a significant era ended: in 1958, the Dodgers and their rivals, the Giants, moved West, leaving behind a legacy in Brooklyn.
