Description:
"Tearoom" presents police surveillance footage from a 1962 crackdown on public sex in the American Midwest. In Mansfield, Ohio, police secretly filmed men in a restroom beneath the city's main square, using a two-way mirror from a hidden closet. The footage was presented as evidence in court, resulting in convictions for sodomy, which carried a mandatory one-year prison sentence. Director William E. Jones discovered the original, unedited footage while researching the case for a documentary. Strikingly raw and revealing, the scenes of ordinary men from diverse backgrounds engaging in sexual activity are presented with minimal alteration.
