Description:
The film explores two types of starfish: brittle stars and feather stars. Brittle stars move independently with their arms, using a single opening for both feeding and waste removal. Vents are visible, used for reproduction and respiration. The film shows newly hatched young being released into the water. Close-ups reveal the intricate patterns on brittle stars. Feather stars are shown in groups resembling ferns. One slowly turns over, its branched arms featuring stalks for breathing and catching microscopic food. Reproductive organs are located within the branches. The film documents egg development at 1,400 times normal speed, followed by the emergence of tiny larvae, initially 0.1 mm long, which then grow. Finally, a feather star is seen moving across the ocean floor.
