Description:
Over two decades in a small Central European village, this drama explores a tragic love story and the fading of old ways. The film opens with a violent death, then flashes back twenty years to Verona's wedding day. Wolves attack the ceremony, killing almost everyone except Verona and her brother-in-law Goran, who saves her life. Verona gives birth to Veronika and immediately promises her hand in marriage to Goran. Ten years later, at Veronika’s tenth birthday party, the engagement is announced, but the festivities are disrupted by the arrival of a traveling circus led by the enigmatic Madina. Veronika becomes drawn to Madina's son Michal, rather than to Goran. Meanwhile, Madina struggles to adapt to village life.
