Description:
Set in rural New Brunswick's Bay of Miramichi in late summer 1973, *The Bay of Love and Sorrows* tells the story of Michael Skid, the son of a judge, who returns home to rent a run-down farm. Inspired by his travels in India, he promotes communal ideals, which resonate with the impoverished Madonna and Silver Brassaurd, and the innocent Carrie. However, these ideas clash with Tom Donnerel, Carrie's fiancé. Hurt by Tom's disapproval, Michael befriends Everette Hatch, an ex-convict who exploits Michael's beliefs. Blinded by his own perceived understanding of others, Michael fails to see that Everette is manipulating him, triggering a devastating series of events within the community.
