Description:
In the Giant Mountains, Matej and Jenda, two of eight children from a poor family, work at a glassworks where their brother Francek is employed. To avoid being caught by supervisors enforcing a ban on child labor, they hide in a tub. They miss out on Epiphany carols and treats, and the usual visits from boys in neighboring villages. On their way home, they encounter a large man with a big backpack hurrying past. The boys alert customs officers who are chasing the man, sending them in the wrong direction. The man later thanks them and rewards them the following day. Inspired by local fairy tales and legends, Matej and Jenda believe the man is Krakonos, the giant said to live in the Giant Mountains.
