Amazing Grace (2005)

In *Amazing Grace*, Mutu creates compelling video art exploring the roots of the Atlantic slave trade, portraying the ocean as a complex force. She views the sea as both the origin of life and a place of immense suffering, witnessing the passage of slave ships and modern migrant boats. Throughout the film, Mutu gradually immerses herself in the ocean while singing the hymn that gives the film its title, in her native Kikuyu language, as a form of personal reflection and spiritual cleansing.
