This film follows a journey through Vietnam and Cambodia to the ancient ruins of Angkor, where magnificent Khmer temples are being carefully restored in the Cambodian jungle. It's a high-definition look at a project far removed from the darkness depicted in "Apocalypse Now." The World Monuments Fund's John Stubbs and John Sanday recount their 15-year restoration of a key temple, one of the jewels of the city often called "the eighth wonder of the world." Inside the 12th-century temple complex of Preah Khan, and at other major sites like Angkor Wat, Bayon, and Banteay Srei, we discover that their work in Angkor represents not only the revival of the temples after the Khmer Rouge era, but also the rebirth of Cambodia itself.
