In 2001, Red Bull Rampage was created for the adventurous edge of mountain biking. It was for riders – bold, determined, and unconventional – who were pioneering new landscapes, pushing their limits, and shaping a new style of riding that wasn't yet part of organized competition. Freeride mountain biking was rapidly changing with each daring drop and descent, and Red Bull Rampage aimed to accelerate that evolution. The first event marked a significant moment in the sport's history, followed by three more events through 2004.
