As his Bar Mitzvah approaches, Simon is plagued by increasingly disturbing nightmares about mishandling the Torah, jeopardizing his milestone. With only three days left until he is considered a man in the Jewish faith, Simon's father, recently divorced and embracing Orthodox Judaism, seeks to guide him toward unwavering faith. Heartbroken by his ex-wife’s remarriage, the father dedicates himself to religious observance. However, Simon finds himself increasingly haunted by his Torah portion and his fear of failure. On the day of his Bar Mitzvah, Simon is called to deliver his portion before the congregation, while his father watches, hoping he will follow the same path.
