From the 1980s, cruise missiles used stored landscape images and compared them to real-time views during flight, highlighting the clash between planned warfare and reality. This comparison, a form of montage, emphasizes similarity and difference. Operational images often feature colored guidance lines designed to highlight what's crucial for recognition, effectively eliminating irrelevant details—a deliberate act that generates resistance.
