Description:
In September 1974, at the Bösebrücke border crossing between East and West Germany, Heike and Ulrich Molitor are caught attempting to flee to the West with their two young children. Authorities offer them a devastating choice: they can go to West Germany with their seven-year-old son, but their two-year-old daughter must stay in East Germany and be given up for adoption. Refusal means a year in prison for both parents and the loss of all their children. This sets the stage for a deeply emotional story exploring the interconnected lives of people in both East and West, culminating in a dramatic climax with the fall of the Berlin Wall.
