In July 1996, as a prelude to his upcoming world tour, Michael Jackson gave a free concert at Jerudong Park Amphitheatre in Brunei, drawing a crowd of 60,000. The show celebrated the 50th birthday of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and was attended by the royal family. The concert mirrored Jackson's Dangerous World Tour in terms of stage design, costumes, and song selection, while keeping details of the new HIStory Tour under wraps. This event was separate from both tours. It featured the first live performances of "You Are Not Alone" and "Earth Song," and the final live performances of "Jam," "Human Nature," "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," and "She's Out of My Life" in a Jackson concert. It also marked one of the last fully live performances of "Billie Jean" and "Beat It," with later shows incorporating lip-syncing.
