Krútňava (2008)

Eugen Suchoň's *Krútňava* is a landmark Slovak national opera, uniquely blending folk dances, customs, and songs with a gripping, psychologically complex musical drama. Written between 1941 and 1949, the opera premiered in 1949 at the Slovak National Theater and experienced a challenging history, even being adapted in the 1950s to align with the prevailing political climate. Despite this, *Krútňava* achieved widespread success, performed in opera houses throughout Czechoslovakia and internationally in cities like Budapest, Moscow, Berlin, and Munich.
