Description:
Philippe Grandrieux confronts the unsettling question of image origins, a theme he has explored throughout his work, from *Sombre* (1999) to his recent film about Masao Adachi (FID 2011). Where do images originate? Perhaps from hidden visions, moments of suspended night, the anticipation of an eclipse's end, a space between dream and nightmare. This is the beginning of *White Epilepsy*. In a darkness punctuated by faint light, a figure emerges: a nude back, framed in a long shot focused solely on the shoulders.
