DOWN (2010)

DOWN, an experimental short film created for the 2010 Short Shorts Film Festival, depicts people repeatedly collapsing in public areas. These falls visually convey feelings of despair, vulnerability, and the effort to keep going. The film takes place on Maronie Street and features an instrumental piece by accordionist Marcato, chosen by Aoyama from submissions to the festival. Using this music as a foundation, the film explores human fragility and resilience through simple, poetic visuals, reflecting Aoyama’s approach to combining visual and musical storytelling.
