Nos rendez-vous (2001)

In 1998, students at Collège Georges Rouault in Paris began exchanging video letters with prisoners. Initially intended as a preventative measure, the project became about the power of words – carefully considered and unburdened by immediate emotion, both in school and behind bars. The students and prisoners took ownership of the video creation, resulting in raw, searching images and sounds marked by a unique tension, sensitivity, and vulnerability. Two years later, these materials were compiled into a film, offering a final opportunity for the participants to share their experience.
