Description:
A mother parrot tries to teach her chicks the phrase "Polly want a cracker," but young Peter is more interested in following his father's footsteps as a sailor. His mother disparages his father, recalling his departure for Hawaii – though Peter insists it was Catalina Island – immediately after the children were born. Unfazed, Peter builds a boat from a barrel and enlists an overly chatty duckling as crew. They sail on a lake and are caught in a thunderstorm, which the duck enjoys. Peter calls for help, and his mother rushes to the rescue, only to find the duck has already saved him. Despite the adventure, Peter remains determined to become a sailor.
