Four grown sons are sent on a wilderness trip by their father, who hopes to impart lessons in self-reliance and ruggedness. Determined to prove their worth, the father leaves them in the forest, confiscating their modern technology. The brothers must navigate their way back to civilization without assistance. Meanwhile, the father becomes lost and is forced to seek help from a peculiar local hunter, a guardian of the woods who is devoted to protecting a bear.
